SUMMARY:Living Loss and Grief: A Journey to Awareness and Acceptance
DESCRIPTION:This thoughtfully developed program is designed to support caregivers as they cope with loneliness\, isolation and burnout\, which are often inherent to caregiving. \nThroughout the caregiving journey\, caregivers live with loss and grief as they transition into their role\, leave behind many pieces of their lives\, dedicate themselves to their care recipient’s well-being\, then cope with the ever-changing challenges they and their care recipient face. In many cases\, this also involves the loss of the care recipient\, accepting the end-of-life process\, and the transition into a new life as the caregiver re-thinks the future. \nJoin us for valuable knowledge-sharing and discussion as we take this journey – living loss and grief – together. \n\nTuesday\, Nov. 15\, 2-3:30 p.m.\nTuesday\, Nov. 22\, 2-3:30 p.m.\nTuesday\, Nov. 29\, 2-3:30 p.m.\nTuesday\, Dec. 6\, 2-3:30 p.m.

SUMMARY:Writers' Circle: Journaling for the Caregiver
DESCRIPTION:Fall writers’ circle; participants receive a journal prompt\, write\, then share their thoughts with one another \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWriting is a wonderful way for caregivers to reduce stress and increase coping skills. Through writing your own narrative\, you can record and review your personal experiences. In general\, this allows people to look for thinking patterns\, problem-solve and see things from a new perspective. Journaling helps us gain a greater understanding of our experiences and reclaim our “self.” \nAt each workshop\, we will gather\, share a journaling prompt\, take some personal journaling time\, then re-group to share with one another.

SUMMARY:COMPASS Facilitator Training
DESCRIPTION:Introducing the 2022 Edition of our four-module curriculum! \nWhether you were previously a registered COMPASS facilitator with Caregivers Alberta or are interested in becoming a newly licensed facilitator to deliver the award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program in your community\, we are offering an ONLINE training opportunity to prepare you to deliver the 2022 curriculum and workshop modules. \nTraditionally\, COMPASS has been an in-person program delivered to registered participants. We are now introducing an online program option\, training facilitators on how to deliver both online and in-person within their community-based settings. \nThree occurrences: \nMonday\, Dec. 12 | 1 to 4 p.m. \nWednesday\, Dec. 14 | 1 to 4 p.m. \nFriday\, Dec. 16 | 1 to 4 p.m. \nWe’ll be reviewing: \n\nParticipant curriculum manual\nFacilitator’s guide and best practices\nProgram policies and procedures\nLicensing agreement for agency partners\nOptions for agency partners to reduce costs to participants\nFacilitator honorarium requests\nMarketing and promotion\nSupplemental resources\n\nPlease note: There are two pre-requisites: \n\nDelivering this course as a licensed facilitator requires signing a facilitators agreement with Caregivers Alberta\, or being listed on an Agency Partnership Agreement\, renewable every two years. \nYou must have previously attended COMPASS for the Caregiver as a program participant (or be registered to do so) prior to teaching it as a facilitator.\n\nThis training session is offered via the online platform ZOOM Meetings. It will be important that you can join via computer or tablet (not cell phone). The sessions includes quite a bit of shared screen content\, and requires your ability to share a screen as well during a portion of the training process. \nTraining is delivered by an experienced facilitator\, and includes a facilitator’s manual\, participant workbook and supplemental resources. \nFor further information\, please contact Johnna Lowther at: jlowther@caregivers.smwsites.com.
