Understand your role as a caregiver and assess your strengths\, challenges and overall sense of self.\n\nFriday\, March 12th (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM) \n\nManaging Your Stress: Learn how stress can lead to burnout and what you can do to prevent or recover from burnout. We’ll explore how to shift our mindset and seek balance in caregiving.\n\nFriday\, March 19th (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM) \n\nBalancing Relationships: Improve your communication skills to identify what you need\, ask for help\, and share the care. The hardest lesson as a caregiver is to regain your identity as a whole person by taking care of yourself first.\n\nFriday\, March 26th (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM) \n\nNavigating the System: Increase your confidence in accessing services\, reflect on your caregiving journey\, and plan for the future to avoid the stress associated with uncertainty.\n\nThe COMPASS for the Caregiver workshop has a $300 value. We are now introducing an online program option for participants and training facilitators how to deliver both models within their community based settings. \nWe’ll be reviewing: \n\nParticipant Curriculum Manual\nFacilitator’s Guide & Best Practices\nProgram Policies & Procedures\nNEW Registration Process (including participant fees)\nOptions for Agency Partners to reduce costs to participants\nFacilitator Compensation Requests\nMarketing and Promotion\nSupplemental Resources\n\n**Please note there are two pre-requisites : \n\nDelivering this course as a licensed facilitator requires signing a facilitators agreement with Caregivers Alberta\, or be listed on an Agency Partnership Agreement\, renewable every 2 years.\nYou must have previously attended COMPASS for the Caregiver as a program participant (or be registered to do so) prior to teaching it as a facilitator.\n\nThis training session is offered via the online platform ZOOM Video Conferencing. It will be important that you can join via computer or tablet (not cell phone). Flores is a “self-advocate” who believes in empowering people with disabilities to reach their full potential. He works with the Office of the Advocate of Persons with Disabilities\, helping to resolve concerns and educate and inform the community around the rights\, interests and well-being of persons with disabilities. \nWhile discussing the importance of inclusion and accessibility\, Tony Flores will talk about the services that his office makes available to Albertans – and how they could apply to you or someone in your life. DESCRIPTION:Caregiving can be a stressful\, isolating\, and overwhelming experience. And due to the COVID-19 pandemic many caregivers are experiencing added levels of stress and anxiety. \nOur award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program helps caregivers balance their own well-being with the challenges of caregiving and is facilitated by someone who understands those challenges. \nThis COMPASS for the Caregiver workshop is a multi-session\, consecutive course being held online. Before registering please ensure that you can virtually attend all 4 weekly sessions listed below. \nFriday\, March 26th (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM) \n\nNavigating the System: Increase your confidence in accessing services\, reflect on your caregiving journey\, and plan for the future to avoid the stress associated with uncertainty.\n\nThe COMPASS for the Caregiver workshop has a $300 value. Thanks to sponsorship from Caregivers Alberta this course is being offered for a $55.00 manual and registration fee. We understand many caregivers live on limited incomes. Upon individual request to Caregivers Alberta\, participants can apply to our COMPASS Scholarship Fund and receive assistance with registration fees if needed.
