SUMMARY:COMPASS for the Caregiver
DESCRIPTION:Caregiving can be a stressful\, isolating\, and overwhelming experience. It can have a negative impact on the caregiver’s physical and mental health. Our award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program helps caregivers balance their own well-being with the challenges of caregiving and is facilitated by someone who understands those challenges. \nCOMPASS for the Caregiver is a 4-week course\, before registering please ensure that you can attend all 4 sessions listed below. \nThursday\, January 9th (1:00pm-3:00pm) \n\nModule 1: Caregiver Characteristics – Recognize your strengths\, needs\, and challenges as a caregiver and take pride in your role. You’ll examine emotions and feelings in this module and help put challenging thoughts into perspective.\n\nThursday\, January 16th (1:00pm-3:00pm) \n\nModule 2: Managing Stress – Learn how stress can lead to burnout and what you can do to prevent or recover from burnout. We’ll explore grief and loss and how to foster hope and seek balance in caregiving.\n\nThursday\, January 23rd (1:00pm-3:00pm) \n\nModule 3: Balancing Relationships – Improve your communication skills to identify what you need\, ask for help\, and share the care. The hardest lesson as a caregiver is to regain your identity as a whole person by taking care of yourself first.\n\nThursday\, January 30th (1:00pm-3:00pm) \n\nModule 4: Navigating the System – Increase your confidence in accessing services\, reflect on your caregiving journey\, and plan for the future to avoid the stress associated with uncertainty.\n\nThe COMPASS for the Caregiver workshop has a $300 value. Thanks to sponsorship from Caregivers Alberta this course is being offered for a $25.00 manual and registration fee. Please note this is a 4-week commitment. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Making Cent$ of Money
DESCRIPTION:Join us on January 28\, 2020 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm as we welcome Manraj from the Credit Counselling Society!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nManraj will be discussing two important topics\, Budgeting 101 and The Truth About Credit! \nBudgeting 101 \nBudgeting has received a bad reputation as something that is restrictive\, boring and doesn’t work. However\, a budget is simply a plan for your money based on your priorities and goals! Most of us weren’t born knowing how to intuitively manage our money\, our parents likely didn’t discuss money let alone teach us\, and it wasn’t part of the curriculum when we were in school\, so we learn by the school of hard knocks. \nHowever\, here’s the good news – budgeting is skill set that anyone can learn! The better news is that we have broken down budgeting into seven easy steps. In the Making Cent$ of Money: Budgeting 101 workshop\, you will learn how to: \n\nSet SMART financial goals\nUnderstand the components of a budget\nTrack your expenses and identify areas of change\nPlan and pay for irregular expenses\nCreate and manage savings for goals like emergency savings and fun things\nCreate a paycheque plan\n\nThe Truth About Credit! \nEver wondered what the difference between a credit score and a credit report was? Do you know what builds (or reduces) your credit score? Credit can be very confusing and this can lead to decisions that may impact our overall credit profile. Decisions and actions that are seemingly positive may actually impact us negatively. \nInformation is key to making decisions that positively affect our credit and overall financial situation. In the The Truth About Credit workshop\, you will learn how to: \n\nIdentify what’s in it for you to be good with your money and credit\nIdentify what is on your credit report and the credit rating system\nIdentify the 5 factors that affect your credit score\nCheck your own credit report\nName who may be interested in your credit score/report\nIdentify some myths around credit\nIdentify ways to build your credit and avoid scams\n\nREGISTER\nThis workshop is presented by the Credit Counselling Society.
