DESCRIPTION:Are you an early riser? Do you have caregiver challenges you’d like to talk about? \nBy gathering in small groups\, caregivers can make connections with one another\, discuss the ups and downs of caregiving\, and share their feelings and ideas in an empathetic community. Together\, they work to empower one another\, and support each other’s well-being. \nThis Caregiver Support Community is led by a trained facilitator who is there to help guide conversations about the caregiving journey\, and offer resource ideas\, education and support. \nThis program occurs online on Friday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. \nFALL DATES: \nSept. 8\, 15\, 22\, 29 \nOct. 6\, 13\, 20\, 27 \nNov. 3\, 10\, 17\, 24 \nDec. 1\, 8\, 15 \nNote: Please review our Group Guidelines before registering.

DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\nCaregiving can be a stressful\, isolating and overwhelming experience. \nOur award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program helps caregivers balance their own well-being with the challenges of caregiving\, and is facilitated by someone who understands those challenges. \nCOMPASS for the Caregiver is a multi-session\, interactive\, online workshop series. \nSession 1 “Being a Caregiver” | Friday\, Oct. 6\, 9:30 a.m. to noon \nCaregiving can be stressful\, isolating\, and have a negative impact on your physical and mental health. Understand your role as a caregiver and assess your strengths\, challenges and overall sense of self. \nSession 2 “Managing Your Stress” | Friday\, Oct. 13\, 9:30 a.m. to noon \nLearn how stress can lead to burnout and what you can do to prevent or recover from burnout. We’ll explore how to shift our mindset and seek balance in caregiving. \nSession 3 “Balancing Relationships” | Friday\, Oct. 20\, 9:30 a.m. to noon \nImprove your communication skills to identify what you need\, ask for help\, and share the care. The hardest lesson as a caregiver is to regain your identity as a whole person by taking care of yourself first. \nSession 4 “Navigating the System” | Friday\, Oct. 27\, 9:30 a.m. to noon \nIncrease your confidence in accessing services\, reflect on your caregiving journey\, and plan for the future to avoid the stress associated with uncertainty. \nPlease review our Group Guidelines before registering. \nThe COMPASS for the Caregiver workshop has a $300 value. Thanks to sponsorship from Caregivers Alberta\, this course is being offered for a $55 manual and registration fee. We understand many caregivers live on limited incomes. Upon individual request to Caregivers Alberta\, participants can apply to our COMPASS Scholarship Fund and receive assistance with registration fees\, if needed.
