DESCRIPTION:The Caregiver Support Community is a virtual program that aims to empower caregivers’ well-being by providing a supportive group where you can connect with other caregivers\, have open conversations about the ups-and-downs of caregiving\, and learn about topics relevant to caregivers. \nThis group is lead by a trained facilitator who is there to help guide your caregiving journey through education and support. \nThis program occurs on Monday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. You must register to receive the Zoom link or phone number to join the group. \nNote: Registration is ongoing\, and new participants can join at any time. \nSUMMER SESSION DATES \n\nJuly 10\, 2023\nJuly 17\, 2023\nJuly 24\, 2023\nJuly 31\, 2023\nNo session Aug. 7\, 2023\nAug. 14 \, 2023\nAug. 21\, 2023\nAug. 28\, 2023\n\nPlease see our event listings for more information on our Caregiver Support Community groups that meet on Wednesday mornings (weekly) and Tuesday evenings (bi-weekly) \nNote: A donation is optional. DESCRIPTION:Caregiving can be a stressful\, isolating and overwhelming experience. \nOur award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program helps caregivers balance their own well-being with the challenges of caregiving\, and is facilitated by someone who understands those challenges. \nCOMPASS for the Caregiver is a multi-session\, interactive\, workshop series. \n  \nThis series is being offered in person at Foyer Lacombe (in the chapel): 1 St Vital Ave.\, St. Albert\, AB T8N 1K1 \n  \nSession 1 “Being a Caregiver” | Monday\, June 5\, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. \nCaregiving can be stressful\, isolating\, and have a negative impact on your physical and mental health. Understand your role as a caregiver and assess your strengths\, challenges and overall sense of self. \nSession 2 “Managing Your Stress” | Monday\, June 12\, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. \nLearn how stress can lead to burnout and what you can do to prevent or recover from burnout. We’ll explore how to shift our mindset and seek balance in caregiving. \nSession 3 “Balancing Relationships” | Monday\, June 19\, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. \nImprove your communication skills to identify what you need\, ask for help\, and share the care. The hardest lesson as a caregiver is to regain your identity as a whole person by taking care of yourself first. \nSession 4 “Navigating the System” | Monday\, June 26\, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. \nIncrease your confidence in accessing services\, reflect on your caregiving journey\, and plan for the future to avoid the stress associated with uncertainty. \n  \nThe COMPASS for the Caregiver workshop has a $300 value. Thanks to sponsorship from St. Alberta Sturgeon Hospice Association\, this course is being offered for a $55 manual and registration fee. We understand many caregivers live on limited incomes. Upon individual request to Caregivers Alberta\, participants can apply to our COMPASS Scholarship Fund and receive assistance with registration fees\, if needed.
