SUMMARY:COMPASS Facilitator Training
DESCRIPTION:Become a licensed facilitator to deliver the award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program in your community. In three online training sessions\, we will prepare you to support caregivers in a very meaningful way. \nCOMPASS can be delivered both in-person and online\, depending on the caregiver community. As a facilitator\, you will cover four modules of content for caregivers ranging from caregiver stress and mental well-being to navigating the system to find resources. \nThese groups usually have no more than 10 caregivers. Each participant will receive the COMPASS for the Caregiver manual\, and you will guide them through the course using your own facilitator version of the manual. \nCOMPASS Facilitator Training takes place over three\, Monday sessions: \nMonday\, May 1 | 1 to 4 p.m. \nMonday\, May 8 | 1 to 4 p.m. \nMonday\, May 15 | 1 to 4 p.m. \nTraining is delivered by an experienced facilitator\, and includes a facilitator’s manual\, participant workbook and supplemental resources. \nWhat you will learn/receive in your training: \n\nParticipant curriculum manual\nFacilitator’s guide and best practices\nProgram policies and procedures\nLicensing agreement for agency partners\nOptions for agency partners to reduce costs to participants\nFacilitator honorarium requests\nMarketing and promotion support/ideas\nSupplemental resources\n\nThree pre-requisites: \n1. You must be working with a community-based organization that supports people who require the help of a family caregiver. Examples include FCSS\, PCN\, AHS\, Covenant Health\, Alzheimer’s Society\, Centre for Autism Services Alberta\, Palliative Care\, etc. \n2. To register for COMPASS Facilitator Training\, you must have previously attended COMPASS for the Caregiver as a program participant within the last two years. \n3. Delivering this course as a licensed facilitator requires signing a facilitators agreement with Caregivers Alberta\, or being listed on an Agency Partnership Agreement\, renewable every two years. \nRequired equipment: \nThis training session is offered via the online platform ZOOM Meetings. It will be important that you can join via computer or tablet (not cell phone). The sessions includes quite a bit of shared screen content\, and requires your ability to share a screen as well during a portion of the training process. \nFor further information\, please contact Johnna Lowther at: jlowther@caregivers.smwsites.com.
