SUMMARY:Online Drawing Class: Rest & Release
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an online drawing class on April 14th with artist Ted! \nAlways been interested in drawing but weren’t sure where to start? Join us as we explore mindfulness through art and release stress or challenging emotions you may be experiencing. We’ll take pencils to paper and practice self-care through the guided instruction of professional art therapists. \nThe Benefits of Art Therapy: \n\nSelf-care is important. You can’t care for others if you aren’t caring for yourself first.\nSetting aside time to explore what’s going on in your mind and releasing it into another form can help decrease anxiety.\nA significant aspect of art therapy is to have your mind occupied on creating\, rather than being bogged down by life’s difficulties.\n\nWhat you Need: \n\nA blank white piece of paper or an art journal and some supplies: a variety of pencils\, pens\, crayons\, or markers in various colors. Whatever you have on hand!\n\nMore Details: \nWe have allotted 3 hours for this drawing session. But if you finish early\, or want to sign off at any time\, you are welcome to do so. It helps to have a scene in mind… but our facilitators can help you to develop a scene. Below are some ideas that might prompt a scene that is meaningful to you. \n\nA very dark sky\, maybe with a single ray of sunshine\nAn animal or bird can represent a person\nIt can be very abstract\, using colours and shapes to represent feelings or situations: swirls? waves? angry brush strokes?\nA pretty or calm scene might be your preference\nA flower trying to grow in a very difficult situation\n\nOr something that is entirely your own idea; we will help you as needed to create it! \nREGISTER\nThe views\, information\, or opinions expressed during our online workshops are solely those of the individuals involved and do not necessarily represent those of Caregivers Alberta and its employees.
